At Braiswick, environmental sustainability is a core priority. We are committed to continually reducing our carbon footprint through responsible and forward-thinking practices across our school photography operations. Alongside significantly reducing our use of cardboard mounts and improving fuel efficiency through the integration of hybrid vehicles, we are cutting CO₂ emissions by minimising printed materials, transitioning to digital ordering and re-booking systems, and consolidating deliveries to reduce transport impact. We also prioritise efficient route planning for school visits, energy-efficient equipment, and responsible waste management. Together, these measures support our long-term commitment to environmental responsibility while maintaining the high standards expected by the schools we work with.
We have successfully met our targets to significantly reduce reliance on cardboard mounts, addressing their environmental impact, including greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and waste management challenges. With each tonne of cardboard produced generating approximately 1.5 to 2.0 tonnes of CO₂e, our actions have already resulted in an annual emissions reduction of an estimated 16.5–22 tonnes. Building on this success, we are now focused on driving further reductions and embedding broader environmental thinking across our operations as part of our continued sustainability commitment.
We have successfully integrated hybrid vehicles into our fleet, significantly improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. This milestone reflects our commitment to sustainable transport practices and has already delivered a measurable reduction in our carbon footprint. Building on this progress, we are now looking towards further technological advancements, including reducing paper usage by transitioning to online forms and digital re-booking systems. Alongside continued efforts to minimise cardboard usage, these next steps will further strengthen our sustainability journey and environmental impact.
